Diana got it done

I didn’t publish a December update from Diana. There was some email mix-up and she didn’t get my questions. But all is back on track, both for our interview and her college applications. Read the full interview below!

Meet the Class gets updated each month from September to May. Each installment features an interview about both the facts and the feelings of where the student is in the process.

Interviews may be edited lightly for clarity and grammar. Names may be changed to protect privacy.

Diana ATTENDS A Public HIGH SCHOOL IN Texas

First, how were your holidays? Did you get a good break? Do you feel rested?

Break was good! I just worked and saw my family, nothing too extravagant.

Have you sent in all your college applications? Reflect on the past five months: do you have any regrets? Have you gained any wisdom you can share? Is it what you expected it to be?

I sent in all my apps in November so I’ve been done for a while. I’ve been accepted to every other school besides UT and A&M and those should come back by February. I have no regrets. I did everything I needed to before the deadlines, I have scholarships to every school, and almost everything is done. I don’t really have much wisdom to share besides just do it because i definitely struggled to start but once I started I got it done pretty quickly. I’m not that worried about college or where I go because I’ve never been one to have a “dream school” or somewhere that I just had to get accepted to or id be devastated. I’ll end up where I’m meant to and I’m not really concerned.

You've reached the point where you no longer add to your college list but start reducing it to the final one. What's your plan? What are your priorities? What's you best-case scenario that will make you the happiest?

My plan is to wait until I hear back from UT and then see what every schools financial aid offer is. I don’t really have a best case scenario because I don’t have a dream school or any real expectations.

What's your spring semester at school look like?

Spring semester is looking good. Pretty easy, it’s the final stretch and it’s going to be really fun.

Have you got any college-related events planned soon? Any tours or interviews?

I think I’m going on a couple more college tours just to revisit the campuses and see how i feel about them, if I could see myself there, etc.

Here's your list as it stood in November. What news is there to share? Any changes? Have you already eliminated any of them from consideration?

Baylor University (accepted, offered scholarship!)

Texas A&M University (applied)

Texas Tech University (applied)

University of North Texas (applied)

University of Oklahoma (applied)

University of Texas Austin (applied)

University of Texas Dallas (applied)

University of Texas San Antonio (applied)

No changes, only that I’m accepted to most of them now, and no eliminations yet.
